Both children were born in Elizabethtown, KY. In 1971 their daughter, Rachel, was born. In 1966 they welcomed their first child, a son, Mark, into the world. Over the next three years, both Linda and Darriel completed their master's degrees from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. While in college, she met Darriel, and they married two weeks after graduation, beginning their teaching careers in 1961 in Elizabethtown, KY. in Elementary Education from Campbellsville University. Linda graduated from Bloomfield High School, and then received her B.A. Her father died when she was not quite 3 years old, and her mother never remarried. She grew up on a farm in a small country-town setting and was the last of five children. Linda was born on July 1, 1939, in Bloomfield, Kentucky, and became a Christian at age 6. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ann Russell Neal Calvert and Tony Huntley Calvert brothers, Charles Calvert and Jeff Calvert and sister, Sarah Brown.
